Dr. Sachse grew up in the rural Mississippi Delta. Her mother is a retired nurse. Her grandfather was a 1912 graduate of the first medical school in Memphis, Tennessee. It was Memphis Hospital Medical College. He was valedictorian of his class. This medical college was established by Union University.
Dr. Sachse chose nursing because she felt called to a profession with a strong emphasis on caring. She earned a Diploma from Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing; a BSN from the University of Memphis; a MSN and PhD from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTCHS) in Memphis.
Dr. Sachse worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing for Baptist Memorial Hospital for ten years. During that time she served as a Peer Assistant for the Tennessee Board of Nursing Peer Assistance Program. She also served as adjunct faculty for UTCHS, Union University, University of Memphis, Northwest Mississippi Community College, and Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. She also spoke to various groups within the Memphis and Shelby county communities concerning mental health issues.
Dr. Sachse's research interests are aging and functional health. She is particularly interested in healthy aging. Mental Health is another interest. She serves her church as a Parish nurse. She has participated in support groups and health fairs at her church in addition to teaching Sunday School.
In addition to serving as Chair of the Germantown Campus School of Nursing, Dr. Sachse teaches the following courses in the RN-BSN and BSNA tracks:

Dr. Sachse also serves as a committee member for the College of Education doctoral student dissertations.
