Big first half lifts No. 3 Union past Martin Methodist 82-69

2/4/12 - The No. 3 Union University women’s basketball topped Martin Methodist College 82-69. Union improved to 22-2 on the season and 9-1 in league play. Martin Methodist dropped to 15-8 overall and 4-5 in the TranSouth.  Union keeps pace atop the TranSouth standings in a tie for first with Freed-Hardeman. Athletics at Union

Union athletic programs continue their winning tradition throughout the NAIA. Since 2000 Union has boasted NAIA National tournament team appearances in volleyball, women's basketball, men's basketball, softball, baseball, men's golf and men's and women's cross country. Individuals have qualified for NAIA National Tournaments in men's and women's cross country and men's golf. The Union Lady Bulldog basketball team captured back-to-back titles in 2005 and 2006, and then again in 2009 and 2010, to add to their 1998 national championship. In addition to these national honors, Union has also captured the TranSouth Conference All Sports Trophy nine times (eight straight) since the 2001-02 season (2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011).
