As a sophomore was most improved player for the Bulldogs…finished third on the team with a .362 average…split time with Cook as catcher and DH…threw out a team leading 49% of would be base stealers (19-39)…catcher with a cannon arm…led the team last season by throwing out 8 of 21 runners…great quickness behind plate and on bases…played football and baseball for Massac County HS…his senior year he hit .515 with 48 RBI and a pitching record of 8-3…holds the Massac County record for wins in a season (10), RBI in a season (58), and RBI in a career (130)…named All-Conference, All-South, and All-State his senior season.
