Before Union: Dew prepped at Halls High School where he played four seasons of baseball for Coach Mike Blackwood as a pitcher and second baseman. He also played four seasons of football for Coach Chris Hurt as a wide receiver and defensive back. Dew was named All-Tournament and All-District in baseball as a junior and senior. In football, he was named FOP Player of the Year as a senior. Off the field, Dew was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, FFA, and was selected Most Likely to Succeed.
