Before Union: Joyce transferred to Union from Florida International University where he played two seasons of baseball. He helped lead FIU to the Sun Belt Tournament Title in 2010. As a sophomore in college, Joyce was selected to the Prospect League All-Star game. On his summer league team, he hit .280 with five home runs and 35 RBI. Joyce prepped at Stanwood (Wash.) High School. He was named all-state as a catcher while hitting .350 with six home runs.
