Before Union: McAdams played football and baseball for two seasons at Ripley High School. McAdams then transferred to Huntingdon High School where he played baseball and football for his junior and senior seasons. In 2007, he helped lead the Huntingdon baseball team to the District and Region Titles. McAdams also helped the Ripley team to District and Region titles in 2005. McAdams was a three-time All-District baseball performer, and was twice named All-Region in football. During his junior year in 2007, McAdams hit .326 with four home runs and a team-high 41 RBI. On the mound, McAdams posted a 5-0 record with 2.96 ERA.
