Union Result: W 80-78

Union Tops No. 18 Lee 80-78

The Union University Bulldogs earned a much needed win as they defeated No. 18 Lee University on their home floor by the score of 80-78. Union improves to 15-12 overall and 3-7 in conference play. Lee falls to 19-7 on the season and 6-5 in conference play.

After trailing by as many as 15 points in the first half, Union took a four point lead at halftime, 39-35. However, Lee rallied to lead by as many as six points in the second half. Union would then put together a small run themselves capped off by a three pointer by Will Harris to take a 63-60 lead. It was back and forth for the remainder and with 15 seconds left, Chima Abakwue was at the line for Union up by two points, 78-76. Abakwue missed a pair of free throws and Lee's Frank Walker drove the length of the court for a layup to tie the game with seven seconds left. Union's senior guard Michael Katrosh once again came through for the Bulldogs in heroic fashion. Katrosh was fouled as he drove to the basket with 2.8 second remaining. Katrosh then made his two free throws to give Union the 80-78 lead. Walker's last second shot fell just short as Union took this much deserved road win.

Union was led by four players in double figures paced by Bruno Martinessi and Michael Palmer with 17 points apiece. Will Harris added 14 points and Chima Abakwue scored 11 points. Katrosh grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to go with his seven points. Lee was led by Rich Jahmal with a game-high 23 points. Armard Ross added 17 points and Ander Pinedo scored 11.
