Union Softball Receives Second Consecutive
NAIA Honor;
Clapsaddle is Named Player of the Week
Jackson, TN—Union’s junior catcher Ame
Clapsaddle was named the NAIA National Player of the Week.
Clapsaddle, a transfer from Motlow State Community College and
a native of Manchester, Tennessee, hit .647 last week with
four doubles, three homeruns and 15 RBI. She drove in 9 runs
in a double-header sweep of Freed Hardeman had a grand slam in
a two game sweep of No. 15 Athens State. On the season, Ame is
hitting .443 with 12 doubles, 7 homeruns, and 43 RBI. She
leads the TranSouth Conference in every offensive category
except for steals and triples. Clapsaddle has led the No. 4
Lady Bulldogs to a 30-2 overall and 6-0 in the TranSouth
Conference. Union has won 16 straight games dating back to
March 10.
Clapsaddle, along with teammate Rachel
Murray, were named TranSouth Conference and NAIA Region XI
Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively. For Murray, who
received the National Pitcher of the Week award two weeks ago,
this is here second straight Region XI pitcher of the Week
honor. Murray is currently 17-1 with an ERA of 0.47. She has
158 strikeouts in 105 innings pitched. Opponents are hitting a
mere 0.086 against Murray. Rachel has tossed six no-hitters
this season and has also added 14 complete games and 10
shutouts.
Union will play at home on Thursday at 2:00 PM against
conference opponent Martin Methodist College of Pulaski,
Tennessee.
