Union Softball Sweeps the TranSouth Player
and Pitcher of the Week
Honors for Third Straight Week

Gronberg and senior infielder Jennifer
Sabourin where named the TranSouth Pitcher and Player of
the Week respectively.
Leah
Gronberg, from College Station, Texas, helped to lead the Lady
Bulldogs to a 6-0 week and their 20th consecutive
victory. Gronberg went 3-0 on the week with two complete game
shutouts. The 5-8 right-hander struck out eight in a 4-0
victory over Lee University and five in an 8-0 win over Bethel
College. She also defeated Martin Methodist College 9-1. On
the season, Gronberg is 15-1 with a 0.88 ERA. She has recorded
108 strikeouts and 28 walks in 112 innings pitched.
Jennifer Sabourin, a native of West Branch, Indiana, put
together an impressive week
offensively.
Sabourin hit .631 (12-19) on the week with eight RBI, three
doubles two triples, and one homerun. She also added eight
runs scored on the week in which she hit safely in all six
Lady Bulldog games. Sabourin leads the TranSouth Conference in
hitting with a .479 average and is second in homeruns and
doubles behind teammate Ame Clapsaddle. On the season,
Jennifer is hitting .479 (46-96) with 25 runs scored 12
doubles, two triples, five homeruns, and 34 RBI. Sabourin has
only stuck out seven times in 36 games and has a slugging
percentage of .802.
Union is currently 36-2 overall and 12-0 in the TranSouth
Conference. The Lady Bulldogs will play their next home game
against the Lambuth Eagles on Wednesday, April 11 at 2:00 PM.
