Union's Gronberg Receives Third Straight
Conference Honor

TN—Leah Gronberg, a freshman from College Station, Texas,
was named the TranSouth Pitcher of the Week. For Leah, this is
her third straight honor and the fifth straight for the Lady
Bulldogs as teammate Rachel Murray received the other two.
Leah Gronberg, a freshman from College Station, Texas went
2-0 on the week. Her first win came in a complete game shutout
(5-0) over Martin Methodist College. Leah’s second win was a
8-0 complete game shutout over Lambuth University in which she
struckout eight batters. On the season, Leah has a record of
19-1 and has added two saves. Gronberg has 132 strikeouts on
the season in 137.0 innings pitched. She has an ERA of 0.87.
The Lady Bulldogs have an overall record of 43-3 and a 17-1
record in the TranSouth Conference. Union is tied for second
in the Nation with Simon Frazier in the latest NAIA poll. The
defending National Champions, Oklahoma City, holds the No. 1
spot. This is the highest ranking ever for Coach Dunn and his
softball program. Union will battle Lipscomb University on
April 24 at Union. Lipscomb is the second place team in the
conference with only 2 loses. With just one win in this
double-header, Union will clinch their third straight
conference title. The Lady Bulldogs are gearing up for a trip
to the NCCAA MidEast Region Tournament this weekend in
Louisville, Kentucky where they will try and defend their
title from a year ago. Coming up on May 9-11, Union will host
the NAIA Region XI Tournament in which the winner will earn a
trip to the NAIA Softball World Series. Union looks to return
to the World Series since 1999.
