Union adds third junior college all-star to
2001 roster
Jackson, Tenn.—The Union University men’s basketball
squad has added yet another junior college all-star to the
roster for the upcoming 2001-02 season. Matt Noah, a 6-8
forward from Muscle Shoals, Ala. has signed to play his junior
and senior seasons with the Bulldogs.
"Matt is a great shooter with lots of experience. We
couldn’t be happier to have him come play with us,"
said head coach Ralph Turner.
Noah transfers to Union from Northwest Shoals Community
College in Muscle Shoals where he averaged 15 points and 5
rebounds per game. Last season, he was selected to the
all-region team and played in the Alabama junior college
all-star game where he was the most outstanding player,
scoring 35 points which includes eight three-pointers.
After graduating from Muscle Shoals High School in 1997,
Noah signed with the University of Arkansas-Little Rock and
then transferred back home to Northwest Shoals for his
sophomore season. In high school, Noah averaged 30 points, 11
rebounds, and six assists per game, good enough for a
selection as a Street and Smith honorable mention
all-American. Other honors on the list of Noah’s high school
career include being selected as one of the Top 10 players in
Alabama, MVP of the Alabama all-star game, and region player
of the year.
