Jackson, TN— Freshman midfielder, Kyle McDermite tallied
5 assists and 1 goal against Atlanta Christian College last
Friday night as Union rolled to a 16-0 victory. McCermite’s
5 assists tied the NAIA record for assists in a game, matched
only by Paul Legge of Aqunias in Michigan last season. Kyle
came to Union from British Columbia, Canada where he was the
team captain for the 1999 Canadian Games and also a member of
the British Columbia Providential Team. Union’s 16 goals in
the game puts the Bulldogs 10th on the NAIA’s
list of goals in a game by one team.
The Bulldogs have a full slate this week beginning with the
Jackson Cup the matches Union against their cross-town rivals
from Lambuth on Tuesday at 4:00 PM. Friday begins the Casey
Jones Village Bulldog Soccer Classic. Bethel Universtiy, IN,
Williams Baptist, and Reinhart College will join Union in this
two-day tournament. Union will play Reinhart College on Friday
at 8:00 PM and Bethel University, IN at 6:30 PM on Saturday.
Union in currently 5-1 overall and 0-1 in the TranSouth
Conference.
