Jackson, TN—Local golf standout, Chris Webb, signed today
to play golf for the Union Bulldogs. Chris Webb is currently a
senior at Jackson Christian School where he has proven to be
one of the top golfers in the area. Webb has seven Jr. PGA
tour wins, four time Jackson Country Club Jr. Club Champion,
and was named the 1998 AJGPA Player of the year. In 1999,
Chris was district champion, region runner-up, and finished 4th
in the state, and was selected to the All-State Team. Already
this year, he has been a qualifier in the 2000 Coca Cola State
Open, finished second place in the Pros of Tomorrow, and has
been a medallist in 5 of 6 High School Golf Matches.
Union’s Head Coach, Keith Dorey is very excited about
having Chris as a part of Bulldog golf program. "We’re
not only signing a great golfer, but also a great student from
a great family", states Coach Dorey. Dorey goes on to
say, " he will be a great addition to an already talented
group of guys." Chris Webb had 13 scholarship offers from
Division I schools, including the likes of Ole Miss, Florida,
Mississippi State, and Tennessee. Coach Dorey’s four-year
plan is to bring a National Championship to Union University.
Last season the Bulldogs went to the National Tournement and
finished 20th. Coach Dorey adds, "This is a
great example of the golf program here at Union and having a
golfer of Webb’s caliber will be a perfect fit in reaching
the goal of being National Champions."
