National Soccer Icon to Conduct Soccer Clinic at Union University as Part of the Boise Cup 2000

Jackson, TN—Art Walls, the United States Soccer Federation’s (USSF) former Director of National Team Coaching will conduct a free soccer clinic at Union’s Soccer field on Saturday, October 14, 2000 at 4 PM. This Clinic will be a one day event for all kids ages 7-18. The first 300 kids will receive a clinic T-shirt and also several lucky participants will have the chance during halftime of the championship game for a kick worth $1,000.

Art Walls is one of the main reasons for the success of the United States Women’s Soccer team during the decade of the 90’s. The Women’s National Team, with stars like Mia Hamm and Michelle Akers, were World Cup Champions in 1991 and 1999. Walls was involved in developing the U.S. National Women’s team, as well as, the U.S. National Men’s team that qualified for its first World Cup in over forty years.

Walls played in the English Premiership for the Tran Mere Rovers and for Airdire in the Scottish First Division. He is also quoted in Soccer American, the leading soccer related newspaper in the United States.

The Boise Cup 2000 will begin on Friday, October 13 at 6 PM at Union’s Soccer field with Bethel College playing Mid-Continent College. At 8 PM Union will take on Freed Hardeman. On Saturday, October 14th, the consolation game will begin at 2 PM. The Boise Free Soccer Clinic with Art Walls will begin at 4 PM and last until 6:30 PM. The Championship game will cap of the weekend event beginning at 7:00 PM. The will be no admission charged for any of the games.

All kids interested in attending the Boise Youth Soccer Clinic should report to Union’ Soccer field by 3:30 PM on October 14th. Plan on staying for the championship game witch will begin at 7:00 PM for their chance at a penalty kick worth $1,000. NO reservations are necessary.
