Jackson, TN—Lauren Hayden was named to the NAIA All-Region
Team. Hayden, a junior from Bellvelle, IL, enjoyed her best season
yet at Union. Hayden was named Region XI player of the week twice
this year, along with five conference player of the week honors.
She was also named the NCCAA MidEast Region player of the Year.
Lauren Hayden has also set a new NAIA record for kills in a
career. The old record was 2728 by Tara Seiter of Mount Vernon
Nazerene in Ohio. Hayden broke and surpassed the mark during the
NAIA Region XI Tournament. She has a total of 2747, and this is
only her junior. Hayden will continue to add to her total during
the 2001 season. Her 950 kills this year are the third best season
in NAIA history.
