JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/2/2007 - Union University women’s soccer goalie Laura Pla has been named the TranSouth Conference and NAIA Region XI Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 30, 2007.
For Pla, this is her fourth conference weekly award (third straight) and second straight region honor.
Pla, a 5-foot-11 sophomore goalkeeper from Nashville, Tenn., recorded another shutout this week. Pla gave up just one goal in a pair of games and has now had three consecutive shutouts in conference play. Pla had 13 saves this week. Union is 7-3 overall this season.
Up next for Union will be a home match on Tuesday night (Oct. 2) versus cross-town rival Lambuth University at 5:00 pm. The men’s match featuring Union and Lambuth will follow at 7:00 pm.
