Union Inks Second JCM Soccer Player

Jackson, Tenn. - 5/23/2002 - Brett Martin, of Jackson Central Merry, signed to play his college soccer with the Bulldogs of Union University. Martin joins Christopher Anthony as the second JCM Cougar to sign with Union this spring.

Martin, a 5-10 sweeper, helped lead the Cougars to a 16-2-1 regular season record and a district championship. The Cougars won the Best of the West Tournament and became the first Jackson team to ever advance to the regional finals. Martin was a four-year starter for JCM and served as the team captain his senior season. He was selected to the Best of the West all-tournament team his senior season, along with an all-district selection his junior and senior seasons. Martin was also the team captain for Jackson’s first ever state champion club team during the 2000 season.

Union’s head coach Dr. Darin White is excited to have Marin as a Bulldog. “It’s great to be able to add quality local soccer players to our team.” White goes own to say, “Brett will be able to help Union continue to improve into a conference force in 2002.”
