Union Baseball Signs Junior College Pitcher

Jackson, Tenn. - 5/30/2002 - Union University has added Dyersburg native, Todd Winchester to the 2003 roster. Winchester, a transfer from Columbia State Community College, will play his final two college seasons for the Bulldogs.

Winchester, a 6-foot-2 right hander, will come in as a projected weekend starter. He had a two-year record of 15-6 while at Columbia State. A 1999 graduate of Dyersburg High School, Winchester lettered in baseball and basketball. His four-year pitching record at Dyersburg was 30-8. Winchester was selected as first team all-district, first team all-region, and first team all-state during his senior year. He was also named the district MVP during that same time period.

Union’s head coach Andy Rushing states that, “Todd has a great arm. He will bring a lot of experience to our pitching staff.” Rushing adds, “He will have the chance to be one of our top pitchers next season.”
