JACKSON, Tenn. - 5/1/2008 - The Union University softball boasted five Lady Bulldogs on the 2008 TranSouth All-Conference teams (PDF). The post season awards were announced at the 2008 TranSouth Conference Tournament being played at Union's Fesmire Field.
Make first team All-Conference was seniors Amy Chatham and Ashley Walters, juniors Michelle Albonetti and Ashley Blanenship. Sophomore Lindsey Landreneau was named second team All-Conference.
Union also had seven players to be named TranSouth Scholar Athletes. These are individual that are sophomore, junior, or seniors, with a 3.0 GPA or better. Candace Cross, Kristen Kirk, Albonetti, Blankenship, Brittany Burkett, Landreneau, and Candice Thompson each made the list.
Union finished runner-up in the conference tournament which earned the Lady Bulldogs an automatic bid to the Region XI Tournament. This will be their 10th region tournament bid in the past 11 years.
