Union Signs JCS Baseball Standout

Jackson, Tenn. - 6/14/2002 - Chris Fowler, JCS graduate, has become the latest local addition to the Union University Baseball squad. Fowler has spent the last four seasons starting on the infield for the Eagles.

Fowler hit and even .400 last season for JCS while hitting four homeruns and driving in 40 runs. He also tallied 27 stolen bases and walked 37 times. On the season, Fowler only struck out three times in 93 at bats. Fowler helped lead the Eagles to a runner-up finish in the region this past season. He was selected as all-region and MVP during his senior year. As a sophomore, Fowler was an instrumental part on the state playoff team of 2000.

Andy Rushing, Union's head coach, likes Fowler because of his ability to play multiple positions. "He can play second, short, or third for us", explains Rushing. Rushing adds, "Chris will also be a big plus to our team because he is a good lefthanded hitter."
