Greenfield’s Perkins picks Union baseball to continue career

JACKSON, Tenn. - 5/14/2008 - Brett Perkins of Greenfield, Tennessee has joined the Bulldogs of Union University to continue his baseball career. Perkins, will graduate from Greenfield in May and will enter Union in the fall as a Physical Therapy major.

Perkins was a three-sport athlete at Greenfield High School in baseball, football, and basketball. As a senior on the baseball team, he was named All-District and posted a batting average of .329. Perkins led the team in RBI and doubles while being named Most Valuable Player. In football, Perkins was named All-Region, All-West Tennessee, and Offensive Back of the Year. He rushed for over 1,000 yards as a senior, with 12 touchdowns.

Off the field, Perkins was an Academic All-State, Class President, Student Council President, and Youth for Christ President.

Union head coach Brent Fronabarger says of Perkins, “Brett fills a need on our team by adding depth at the catcher position. He is a great kid that comes from a good family. Brett’s work ethic in his academics and athletics makes him a great addition to our program.”
