JACKSON, Tenn. - 5/16/2008 - The Union University cross country team has signed Hannah Clardy for the 2008 season. Clardy is from Maumelle, Arkansas and will enter Union this fall as a freshman, majoring in Pre-Medicine.

Clardy is coming off a season in which she captured her first state championship after two straight runner-up finishes. Clardy prepped at Arkansas Baptist High School where she will also graduate as valedictorian of her class. She joins a Union program that has qualified for the past two NAIA National Championship Meets as a team and has produces numerous academic and athlete honors over the years.

Union head coach Gary Johnson believes Clardy will contribute to both the athletic and academic success of the Union Lady Bulldogs. “Hannah is a special young lady who is the top runner in her division in Arkansas. She comes from a wonderful Christian family and will add personality and spirit to our team along with her academic and athletic talents." Coach Johnson adds, "We have tried to purposely develop a reputation in the cross country programs of attracting outstanding Christian student-athletes capable of equal success in the classroom and on the athletic field."
