Union men’s soccer adds player from Christian Brothers

JACKSON, Tenn. - 6/17/2008 - Cooper Rawls, a graduate of Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, has signed to play his college soccer for the Union University Bulldogs. Cooper will enter Union this fall as a freshman and will major in Criminal Justice.

Rawls, a 5-foot-8 165 lb. midfielder, played four seasons of soccer at Christian Brothers High School in Memphis. He helped lead his team to three straight Division II State Runner-Up finishes from 2006-2008. He was named All-Region as a senior and was voted team captain as a sophomore and senior. Rawls also led his team in assists as a senior. Rawls played club soccer for Memphis Futbol Club. His team placed second in the Gothia Cup (Sweden) in 2007 and was the MFC State Runner-Up in 2006.

Off the field, Rawls was a first honor roll student and a member of the Spanish Club and Latin Club.

Rawls is the son of Ted and Liane Rawls. He joins his two sisters at Union, including Emily who is a senior on the women's soccer team.
