JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/4/2008 - Laura Pla of Union University has been named the TranSouth Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for the week ending August 31.
Pla, a 5-foot-11 junior goalkeeper from Nashville, Tenn., was selected as the conference’s defensive player of the week after playing a key part in Union’s season-opening win over Southeastern (Fla.) College by recording five saves in a 3-0 shutout. The Lady Bulldogs are 1-1 on the year.
Up next for the Union women’s soccer team will be two matches in Kentucky this weekend. The Lady Bulldogs play at Georgetown (Ky.) College on Friday and Asbury (Ky.) College on Saturday.
