Jackson, Tenn. - 7/26/2002 - Three current and two former Union University Golfers have qualified for the Tennessee State Amateur Championship. Jeremy Hand, Anthony McElroy, Chris Webb, Jeff Page, and Adam Steedly will play in the State Amateur Championship on August 6-9 at the Ridgeway Country Club in Memphis, Tenn.
Each player participated in the qualifier tournaments held on July 22. Hand, a junior for the Bulldogs, scored a 75 at the Gray Stone Golf Course in Dickson, Tenn. McElroy, and senior at Union, and Webb, a sophomore, played the Jackson Country Club and scored a 72 and 73 respectively.
Members of last season’s golf team, Page and Steedly both scored 74’s at the Jackson Country Club to qualify for the state amateur.
Union will open up their fall season in mid September under new leadership. Former Union golf coach, Don Morris will rejoin the program and begin a season in which they want to improve on last season’s conference runner-up and to make the NAIA National Tournament.
