Union’s Adams named TranSouth volleyball player of the week

JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/29/2008 - Union University’s Katie Adams has been named the TranSouth Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending September 28, 2008.

Adams, a 5-foot-8 junior setter from Orange, Calif., led the Lady Bulldogs to the Cumberland University Invitational tournament championship and was named the tournament MVP. The 5-8 junior had 183 assists and 46 digs in 11 games played this week. Adams also notched 11 kills and had 20 aces. Thanks to Adams’ efforts, the Lady Bulldogs were 4-1 this week, with their lone loss coming to TranSouth front-runner Freed-Hardeman (14-0) in a five-game match.

Union is currently 12-4 this season and is 4-2 in the TranSouth.

Up next for Union will be a home conference match versus Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University on Tuesday, September 29 at 7:00 pm.
