Union women's soccer takes win over Lambuth 2-0

JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/30/2008 - The Union University Lady Bulldog soccer program pulled even in the all-time series with Lambuth (Tenn.) University with a 2-0 win on Tuesday night at Union. After Lambuth won the first three meetings of the series, Union has posted three straight victories to set the all-time series at 3-3.

Union, now 8-3 on the season, scored early with a goal from Brooke Walker in the fifth minute. Cheslie Tharpe recorded the early assist. Union held that 1-0 at the break. After 41 minutes of little action in the second half, Union added their second goal in the 86th minute on a penalty kick from Cheslie Tharpe.

Union outshot Lambuth 16-3 in the game, included 10-3 in the shot-on-goal category. Union goalie Laura Pla recorded three saves, while Lambuth goalie Connie Hanson recorded eight saves.

Up next for Union will be a conference home game versus Cumberland (Tenn.) University on Saturday, October 4 at 2:00 pm.
