Union volleyball gets conference win at Bethel

JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/2/2008 - The Union University volleyball team earned a hard fought win on the road with a 3-2 (22-25, 25-14, 25-17, 22-25, 16-14) victory at Bethel (Tenn.) College. With the win, Union improved to 14-4 overall and 6-2 in the TranSouth. Bethel dropped to 7-5 on the season and 4-2 in league play.

Bethel jumped out early in the first game, but Union was able to take the next two games by 11 and 8 points respectively. Bethel answered the bell with a win in the fourth game. But Union edged Bethel in game five for the match-clinching win.

To this point in the season, Union remains the only team in the TranSouth to defeat the Lady Wildcats of Bethel. Union took the earlier meeting 3-1 at Union on September 13.

Union remains in second place in the TranSouth, two games back of leader Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University.

Up next for Union will be another road conference match when Union travels to Batesville, Ark. on Saturday for a 12:00 noon start.
