Union Senior Named NCCAA Volleyball Player of the Week

Jackson, Tenn. - 9/16/2002 - Union University senior, Andrea Darr was named the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Player of the Week. Union comes in ranked No. 4 in the NCCAA polls and has an overall record of 7-1 this season.

In four games last week, Darr averaged 3.0 kills per game while compiling a .382 hitting percentage. She served 17 aces and added over 3 digs and 1 block per game.

Darr, Union’s outside hitter from Swansea, Illinois, is second on Union’s squad with 2.67 kills per game and leads the Lady Bulldogs in hitting percentage at .340 on the season. Her 34 service aces lead the Lady Bulldogs along with her 28 total blocks. Darr ranks first with a .981 passing percentage and second in the NCCAA with 1.31 aces per game. She is in the top 20 of numerous other categories.

Union University ranks second in the NCCAA with a .307 attacking percentage, a .903 passing percentage, and with 4.00 assists per game. The Lady Bulldogs also come in at No. 4 with 11.85 assists per game and No. 7 in the NCCAA with 12.85 kills per game.

Union will host Bethel College out of McKenzie, Tenn. tonight at Fred DeLay Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m.
