JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/21/2008 - The Union University men’s basketball team has been ranked No. 12 in the Victory Sports Network preseason men’s basketball rankings. Victory Sports Network covers solely NAIA athletics and the rankings can be found at www.victorysportsnetwork.com.
Union, who missed the national tournament last year for the first time since 2003 and only the second absence in the past 11 seasons, returns two NAIA All-Americans. Senior Matt Neaville (Urbana, Ill.) and Brian Lake (Bolivar, Tenn.) both return after solid 2007-08 seasons. Neaville led the NAIA in scoring last season with 24.3 points per game. He also led the NAIA with 5.0 three pointers made per game. Brian Lake averaged 17.1 points and 9.6 rebounds per game, leading the TranSouth with 14 double-doubles.

The NAIA Preseason Polls will be released on October 27.
Union opens their season on Nov. 4 at home versus Williams Baptist (Ark.) College. The game will be at 7:00 pm.
