Union volleyball splits in final day of SCAD Tourney

SAVANNAH, Ga. - 10/25/2008 - The Union University volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday in the Savannah (Ga.) College of Art and Design Invitational. Union defeated Warner Southern (Fla.) College 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-18). Later in the day, Union fell to Webber International (Fla.) University 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-22). During the two-day tournament, the Union Lady Bulldogs earned three wins in four matches.

In the win over Warner Southern, Union was led by Emilie Ogas with seven kills. Heather Lieberman and Amanda Coyle added six kills each. Katie Adams posted 26 assists, while CJ Neathamer and Lieberman led with nine digs. Anna Sims led Union with five blocks, while Ashley Young posted four blocks.

Webber International, who is receiving votes at No. 27 in the NAIA, did something no other team this season has done to Union. They defeated Union in three games. Union was led by Ogas with 12 kills, followed by Coyle with 10 kills. Adams recorded 33 assists, Neathamer added 17 digs, while Anna Sims recorded six blocks.

Up next for Union will be two TranSouth road games next week when Union travels to Mid-Continent (Ky.) University on Tuesday and Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College on Thursday.
