NASHVILLE, Tenn. - 2/16/2009 - Union University’s Greg Truvillion has been named the TranSouth Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 15, 2009. It is the second week in a row for the Truvillion to win the award. Additionally, he was the Co-Player of the Week on January 25.
Truvillion, a 6-foot-8 junior forward from Lansing, Mich., had a pair of double-doubles on the week, running his season total to seven. He has had three consecutive games with a double-double. He started the week with a 27 point and 10 rebound effort in a 92-67 win at No. 15 Cumberland University. He was 11-of-16 from the field in the game. He added 24 points and 15 rebounds in a 90-84 win over Lambuth University. He was 7-of-14 from the field in that game and hit 10-of-11 from the foul line.
For the week he averaged 25.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and two blocks per game while hitting 18-of-30 (60%) from the field and 15-of-17 (88%) from the foul line.
The Bulldogs are now 21-4 overall and lead the TranSouth with a 10-1 conference mark. Union is ranked No. 5 in the latest NAIA Division 1 Men's Basketball Poll.
