Union women’s soccer adds player to 2009 roster

JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/26/2009 - The Union University Lady Bulldog soccer program has added another recruit for the 2009 season. Becca Menhart of Plano, Texas, will enter Union this fall and will major in Athletic Training.

Menhart, a 6-foot goalkeeper, comes to Union from Prestonwood (Texas) Christian Academy where she played one season of soccer and track. She also played soccer and ran track at Worthington Christian High School (Ohio) before moving to Prestonwood. Menhart played club soccer for the Ohio Premier Soccer Club from 2004-07, the Blast FC in 2007-08, and then moved to the Texas FC in 2008-09. In 2006, she helped lead her track team to a district championship in the 4x100 relay. In 2007 and 2008, she was a regional finalist, while added state competitor and Academic All-Ohio in 2008.

“Becca is a solid keeper with good size,” says Union Head Coach Brandon Boylan. “She has had some very good coaching and has accomplished quite a bit at the club level, both in Ohio and Texas. We are excited she has chosen Union to continue her soccer career. She will be a great addition to Union and our soccer program.”

Off the field, Menhart was an ACSI Distinguished Student Leader, three-time class officer, and spent time volunteering as a youth soccer coach and church activities.
