FULTON, Ky. - 3/4/2009 - In their second event of the spring, the Union University men's golf team posted a second place finish in the Grover Page Golf Classic host by the University of Tennessee at Martin. The tournament, which had originally been scheduled as a two-day event at the Jackson Country Club, was played as an 18-hole event at the Fulton Country Club in Fulton, Ky.
Union posted a team score of 296, good for second place behind the UT Martin Skyhawks with a winning score of 282.
Ryan Chandler, Jesper Swedenborg, Mills Hamaguchi, and Clay Mallard all shot 74 to pace the Union Bulldogs. All four scores tied for seventh place in the event. Union's Matt Kelly, still recovering from his injuries during the Feb. 2008 tornado that hit Union's campus, posted a 79 (17th Place).
Up next for Union will be duel round of golf versus Bethel (Tenn.) College on March 16 at Falcon Ridge Golf Club.
