JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/4/2009 - The Union University women’s soccer team continues to add players for 2009. The latest addition comes from Anchorage, Alaska with the signing of Olivia Burnette. Burnette will enter Union this fall as a freshman and will major in Communication and Public Relations.
Burnette, a 5-foot-7 forward, prepped at A.J. Dimond (Anchorage, Alaska) High School where she played three sports, including soccer, volleyball, and track. In 2006, she helped lead her team to the Alaska State Title. Burnette also was a standout player for the Alaska Rush Soccer Club. She helped win the 2009 State Cup Championship, 2008 National Directors Cup Championship, and the 2007 State Cup Championship. Off the field, Burnette was a Silver Star award winner, student body president, yearbook editor, and a Change of Heart trainer.
“Olivia is an offensive minded player that will come in and add speed and goal scoring ability to our team,” says Union Head Coach Brandon Boylan. “She will be a great compliment to our offense and should see playing time early in her career. We feel fortunate to have Olivia as a part of the program, and are excited that she has chosen to join the Union soccer family.”
