JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/21/2009 - The Union University Lady Bulldogs, the NAIA’s 2009 Women’s Basketball National Champions, have signed Paige Parker out of Hanceville, Ala. Parker will enter Union this fall as a freshman.
Parker, a 5-foot-10 guard, prepped at Cold Springs (Ala.) High School where she averaged 17 points and seven rebounds as a senior. She was named the MVP of the 2008 and 2009 state tournaments, while scoring 29 points in the title game in 2009.
Mark Campbell, the head coach of the national champion Lady Bulldogs, says, “We are so excited to sign the best shooter in the state of Alabama. Paige has been well coached and is used to having high expectations put upon her. She is a great student and fits perfectly into the Union environment, and will continue in the great tradition of three point shooters. I think her best years are ahead of her!"
