JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/22/2009 - Union University softball has added Keaton Kirk of Bolivar, Tenn. to the roster, beginning in the fall of 2009. Kirk will enter Union as a freshman and will major in Athletic Training.
Kirk, a 5-foot-5 pitcher and outfielder, prepped at Bolivar Central High School where she played four seasons of softball. She also played for the West Tennessee All-Stars, leading her team to the USSSA Tennessee State Title in 2007. Kirk was named All-West Tennessee and All-District as a freshman, sophomore, and junior. As a junior, Kirk hit .431 with six homeruns. She also posted a 0.83 ERA on the mound, with 142 strikeouts and just eight walks in 82 innings pitched.
Off the field, Kirk was a Girl's State Delegate, Miss BCHS, BCHS Wall of Fame, and selected most studious. She was a member of the honor roll, FCA, Beta Club, and won seven subject awards.
Kirk continues a family tradition of playing Union athletics. Her father, Tony Kirk, was a member of Union’s 1983 baseball team that advanced to the NAIA World Series, finishing third. Kirk’s older sister, Kristen, is currently a senior on Union’s softball team.
Kirk is the daughter of Tony and Teresa Kirk and is a member of First Baptist Church in Bolivar.
