JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/30/2009 - The Union University Cross Country team is getting set to host the Second Annual Union Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, October 3. The meet will include high school and college cross country teams from the area and neighboring states.

The meet will be held on the east side of the Union campus, near the by-pass. The course begins north of the soccer field, and after loops through a portion of the Union campus, ends on the soccer field. The college men will run 8K, while the college women and high school teams will run the 5K distance.
For Union, this will be their second race of the season. Both the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs had strong showings in the Vanderbilt Commodore Classic in Nashville two weeks ago. The men placed eighth of 16 in the event, with Union’s Alex Bett placing third overall and second among college entries. Union’s women placed ninth out of 18 teams. In both cases, Union was the highest among NAIA teams, while also finishing above numerous NCAA schools in the state of Tennessee.
