KANSAS CITY, Mo. - 10/26/2009 - The Union University men’s and women’s basketball find themselves ranked in the 2009-10 NAIA preseason basketball polls. Union’s women are No. 1 for the 26th straight ranking, and have also been No. 1 in the preseason poll for four straight seasons. Union’s men enter the preseason poll at the No. 11 spot.
Union’s women, the defending NAIA national championships, received nine of the 11 first place votes with Vanguard (Calif.) coming in at No. 2 with the other two first place votes.
Union’s men are No. 11 after finishing last season as the No. 4 ranking team and a No. 3 seed in the NAIA national tournament. Union advanced to the second round of last season’s national tournament after winning their sixth TranSouth championship.
