Union’s Truvillion named first men’s basketball player of the week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - 11/16/2009 - The TranSouth Athletic Conference has selected Union University's Greg Truvillion as the Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 15, 2009.

Truvillion, a 6-foot-8 senior center from Lansing, Mich., averaged a double-double in leading the Bulldogs to a 2-1 week. The preseason TranSouth Player of the Year had his best game of the week in a 75-62 win over Harris-Stowe.

He scored 27 and grabbed 14 rebounds while adding four assists, two blocks, and three steals. In the Bulldogs 66-64 road upset of No. 5 McKendree University he added another double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds, including the game-winning shot with four seconds left. The lone loss of the week was to No. 25 Olivet Nazarene. Truvillion scored 18 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and distributed seven assists.

For the week Truvillion hit 26-of-44 (59%) from the field. His lone three-pointer came with four seconds remaining against McKendree and was the game winner.

The Bulldogs are 3-1 on the year and ranked No. 11 in the NAIA Preseason Poll.
