Jackson, Tenn. - 1/22/2003 - Chima Abakwue, a junior guard for the Union University Bulldogs, joins the 1,000 point club as he reached the milestone in the Union overtime loss to Lambuth. Abakwue has a career total of 1032 for a career average of 11.9 per game.
Abakwue, from Cedar Hill, Texas, currently leads the Bulldogs in scoring with his 14.6 points per game. He also leads the team by far in three-pointers made with 56 of 126 (.444). Abakwue is second in the TranSouth Conference in three-pointers made after leading the conference in that category in each of the past two seasons.
Abakwue joins Lady Bulldogs Jessica Henson and Tashekia Brown as the other Union players to reach the 1,000-point milestone during this season.
The Bulldogs are currently 10-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Union will host Trevecca Nazarene on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 8 p.m.
