Union women’s soccer signs Spring Hill’s McDonough

JACKSON, Tenn. - 5/26/2010 - The Union (Tenn.) University women’s soccer team has signed Hayley McDonough to a scholarship. McDonough, a native of Spring Hill, Tenn., will enter Union this fall as a freshman.

Union head coach Brandon Boylan says, “Hayley is a talented midfielder who will come in and push our current group of midfielders. She is a strong, physical presence in the midfield and we cannot wait to see how she develops during her time here at Union. We are excited she has chosen to continue her academic and athletic career here at Union.

McDonough, a 5-foot-4 midfielder, prepped at Independence (Tenn.) High School where she played four years of varsity soccer. She tallied 19 goals over her freshman through junior seasons at Independence. McDonough was named all-district as a junior and senior, all-region as a senior and was selected to the THSSCA/TACA All-Star game as a senior. She was the Heart Award winner as a starter her freshman season. In addition to her high school soccer, McDonough played club soccer for the Brentwood Soccer Club, Harpeth Futbol Club and the Tennessee Futbol Club. She also participated in the Olympic Development Program in Tennessee in 2006.

McDounough is the daughter of Robert and Lisa of Spring Hill and is a member of Cleveland Street Baptist Church.
