JACKSON, Tenn. - 6/2/2010 - The Union (Tenn.) University women’s soccer team has signed Rachael Boswell of Johnson City to their fall roster. Boswell will enter Union this fall as a freshman and will major in athletic training.
Union head coach Brandon Boylan says, “Rachael comes from a great family and will be a great fit for Union and our soccer program. She has had some great coaching both at the club and high school level. Rachael is a gifted midfielder and will come and contribute to our success both on and off the field.”
Boswell, a 5-foot-8 midfielder, prepped at Providence (Tenn.) Academy where she played soccer and basketball. Boswell was named Tri-State All-Region as a junior and was the freshman MVP of her soccer team. She led her high school team with 15 goals and 10 assists in nine games as a junior. Boswell helped lead her club team, the FC Alliance, to the state championship game in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Her club team was also the Region-3 Premier League representative to the regional competition. As a basketball player, Boswell was named Tri-State All-Region twice and was a three-time Best Offensive Award winner.
Boswell excelled outside of athletics as well, including membership in the National Honor Society, National Latin Exam Cum Laude, and National Spanish Exam Excellent.
Boswell is the daughter of Bill and Barbara and is a member of First Christian Church.
