Union’s Lieberman named volleyball player of the week

JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/1/2010 - Heather Lieberman of the Union (Tenn.) University volleyball team has been named the TranSouth Conference volleyball Player of the Week. This award is for the week ending October 31, 2010.

Lieberman, a 5-foot-8 outside hitter from Rochester, N.Y., led Union's attack in a pair of conference sweeps that clinched the regular season championship for the Lady Bulldogs. In a 3-0 win over Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University, she posted a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs. She followed with 13 kills on 19 attempts and six digs in a sweep of Mid-Continent (Ky.) University.

For the week, Lieberman averaged 3.8 kills and 3.2 digs per set while posting a .400 hitting percentage.

Union, which is 20-7 overall and 11-1 in conference play, won their fourth TranSouth Regular Season Title (1999, 2000, 2004, 2010).

Union has two road conference matches this week at Cumberland (Tenn.) and at Martin Methodist (Tenn.). The TranSouth Conference Tournament is Nov. 8-10 in Henderson, Tenn.
