Union baseball drops to No. 17 in latest rankings

JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/12/2011 - The Union (Tenn.) University baseball fell four spots to No. 17 in the latest NAIA National Rankings. Union has been as high as No. 7 this season, but has posted a 5-5 record in their last 10 games to fall to No. 17. However, the Bulldogs are currently riding a 3-game winning streak after a 3-2 win over William Carey (Miss.) earlier today.

Union remains in the hunt for a conference title as they are tied for second with an 11-4 record with No. 10 Cumberland (Tenn.) and Martin Methodist (Tenn.). Trevecca Nazarene, who is receiving votes in the latest rankings, has a 12-3 conference record.

Union has just three conference weekends left before the tournament. Union will travel to Mid-Continent (Ky.) this weekend and then will play at Freed-Hardeman next weekend. Union will close out the conference season at home versus Trevecca Nazarene on April 28-29.

The TranSouth Conference Baseball Tournament will be at Union’s Fesmire Field this season on May 2-5.
