JACKSON, Tenn. - 6/2/2011 - The Union (Tenn.) University women’s soccer team has added Mallory Wilson to the roster. Wilson will enter Union this fall as a freshman and will major in nursing.
Union head coach Brandon Boylan says, “Mallory is a great kid who believes God’s leading in her life has brought her to Union. She will come in and compete at the forward position and I expect her to be able to help in our attacking third, an area we struggled in last season. I am excited about her as a player and person in our program. We look forward to Mallory being a part of the soccer team and our university.”
Wilson, a 5-foot-5 forward from Chiang Mai, Thailand, played high school soccer for Grace International School. She played soccer , futsal, volleyball and ran track while in high school. Wilson helped lead her soccer team to CMAC Conference Titles in 2008, 2009 and 2011. She spent one season playing soccer for Aledo High School where her team claimed the 2010 district title. Wilson was named first team all-conference, was a district all-academic and was named conference MVP twice during her career. In 2010, she moved to Texas where she started for the Forth Worth United 92 club team. During her senior year, Wilson scored 34 goals and tallied 13 assists, including four hat tricks. As a senior futsal player, she scored 41 goals and had 17 assists, including a game in which she scored six goals. Wilson also holds the school and conference record for 100M, 200M and long jump.
Off the field, Wilson has spent countless hours working with orphans in Thailand and made monthly trips to minister through sports to Karen tribal kids in refugee camps along the Thai-Myanmar border. She was also named the 2010-11 Christian Athlete of the Year Award at Grace International.
Wilson is the daughter of Ronald and Belle Wilson who are missionaries to Thailand.
