Rain Puts NAIA Softball World Series on Hold

Decatur, Ala. - 5/17/2003 - Rain has put the 2003 NAIA Softball World Series on hold until Monday, May 19 at 9:00 a.m. when the games will resume. Union's losers bracket matchup with the University of Mary will be played on Monday at 11:00 a.m.

After a four hour rain delay on Friday, all day one games where completed late Friday evening and into the early hours of Saturday. However, more heavy rain on Saturday was just too much. At about 12 noon, rain began to fall and didn't stop until almost 3 p.m. Officials decided to postpone all remaining Saturday games and resume play on Monday.

Union has gone 1-1 in the tournament so far. Three-time defending champions, Oklahoma City defeated Union 2-0 in the opening round. Union the rallied back to win their game early Saturday morning over Warner Southern College 4-2.
