PULASKI, Tenn. - 10/11/2011 - The Union University men’s soccer team fell 1-0 Tuesday night at Martin Methodist College. Union dropped to 4-7-1 overall and 2-2 in the TranSouth. Martin Methodist improved to 6-4 on the season and 4-0 in league play.
It was the second straight 1-0 loss on the season for Union and the fourth 1-0 loss in the 12 matches on the season.
The two teams played to a scoreless first half, with Martin Methodist taking a 9-3 shots advantage in the first 45 minutes. In the second half, the shots were more even at 6-5 in favor of Martin Methodist. However, it was the home RedHawks who finally broke through with just six minutes left in regulation. Dylan O’Driscoll scored the winning goal for Martin Methodist.
James Landham had eight saves for Union, while Stephen Lunney had two saves. Shots-on-goal were 9-3 in favor of Martin Methodist.
Up next for Union will be a home conference match Tuesday, October 18 at 8:00 p.m. versus Bethel.
