JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/29/2011 - The 2011 TranSouth Conference Cross Country Championships was completed Saturday, October 29 on the campus of Union University in Jackson, Tenn. This marked the third straight season for Union to be the host for the cross country championships.
On the women's side, Union claimed their ninth straight conference title. Blue Mountain (Miss.) College finished second, Bethel University finished third, and Freed-Hardeman finished fourth.
Allison Martin of Union was named the TranSouth Runner of the Year and Gary Johnson of Union was named the TranSouth Coach of the Year. Union's Martin, Audrey Hazelhurst and Lilli Harmon were named to the TranSouth All-Conference team.
On the men's side, Union claimed their eighth straight conference title. Blue Mountain finished second, Bethel finished third, and Freed-Hardeman finished fourth. Alex Bett of Union was named the TranSouth Runner of the Year, Lucas Peiser of Union was named the TranSouth Newcomer of the Year, and Johnson of Union was named the TranSouth Coach of the Year. Bett, Zach Covington, Drake Ott were named to the TranSouth All-Conference team.
