Union’s Warren earns third straight defensive award

LEBANON, Tenn. - 10/31/2011 - Union University’s Emily Warren has been named the TranSouth Conference Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 30, 2011. This marks the third straight award and forth overall on the season for Warren.

Warren, a 5-foo-8 sophomore, recorded her seventh shutout of the season in a 1-0 victory over Cumberland University on Tuesday. It was also her third straight shutout, including wins against Bethel University and Union College.

The Cabot, Ark., native allowed two goals in the final 10 minutes against Trevecca Nazarene in a 4-2 triumph on Friday, ending a stretch of more than 425 minutes without allowing a goal. She ranks second in the TranSouth and 29th nationally in goals-against-average (0.89).
